I bought my plane ticket to Spain, but who knows the many places I'll get to explore? Check back to see where Nora will Explora next...

Torás
Last weekend, Mireia and her family invited me to go to their apartment in Torás with them. Torás is a tiny little town in the mountains, about an hour's drive from Valencia, where most of the houses are only inhabited on weekends and in summer. We had a very relaxing weekend, including a walk along a river, watching tv and taking a spanish siesta, and wandering around the town.
One of the most interesting surprises was that we stumbled upon a makeshift bull cage set up in the town's main square. Apparently they do this with some frequency, because the streets were equipped with holes to hold up tall, iron bars, which created a giant cage for the bull. About 5-6 guys entered with the bull and proceeded to play a game of put-the-ring-on-the-bull's-horn, which required them to run towards the bull, reach towards its head, but avoid getting hit by its horns. Lots of people from the town came to watch and to cheer them on. On one hand, I wasn't surprised by the spectacle after having lived in Spain for nine months; on the other hand, though, as an American, it struck me how bizarre the whole thing was! :)
